New Samos Range is Launched by BuschBusch (UK) Ltd, the Telford, Shropshire, based pump and blower manufacturer, has launched a new range of side channel blowers called the Samos SB.
Described by Busch as being suitable for applications with pulsation free vacuum or blast air demand, they are versatile and can be installed horizontally or vertically. The aluminium die cast construction and thick shaft diameter also make the range sturdy and durable.
The new Samos SB, replaces the SE range and is assembled as a complete machine as opposed to other designs currently on the market, according to Busch, where standard motors are attached to the impeller with couplings.
Busch says the most important feature of the new design is the increased shaft length so the pump has one complete shaft running through the machine. The front end bearing is located after the impeller so it does not overhang the motor, and therefore has the effect of limiting vibration, which increases the life span of the pump and reduces wear to the bearing.
Mark Taylor, UK sales manager for Busch, said: “One of the most common failures of other side channel blowers on the market, is caused when the front bearing gets too hot, which results in the bearing seizing and the pump burning out or the impeller shattering.
This is overcome with the Samos due to the bearing no longer being located deep within the machine, reducing the temperature of the front end bearing by 20 per cent.”
The company says the blowers also have motors, which are specifically wound for the pump to give optimum performance. They are built for coarse industrial applications, with a range of 80 to 1300 m3/h and the differential pressure from 480 mbar pressure to 400 mbar vacuum, which is used in conveying systems, transport and lifting, printing and paper industry and environmental technology. The blowers are also suitable for packaging and technical industries.
Mark added: "By addressing the overhang issue the shaft whip is limited and the SB model can therefore offer less downtime and a longer lifespan. With less vibration we can reduce the gap needed between the impeller and casing which means the pump will give more flow and better differential pressures, resulting in faster cycle time and improved performance.
The efficiency of the SB pump means that smaller models can be used compared with other designs, which reduces our customers capital cost as well as the running cost therefore leading to a reduction in the cost of ownership.”
Busch says the Samos SB is virtually maintenance free with sealed for life bearings, fan-cooled motor and non-contacting impeller. They are also environmentally safe, with oil free compression and low noise levels because of internal silencers.
Busch (UK) Ltd was established in 1971 and supplies a comprehensive range of vacuum pumps, low pressure compressors and systems which are designed and built to the meet the individual needs of its customers. Its Telford base also features a full service and support centre.
With more than 1600 employees working in 37 manufacturing and operations facilities located around the world, Busch Vacuum Pumps & Systems was founded in Germany in 1963 by Dr-Ing Karl and Mrs Ayhan Busch. 20/12/2004
