Busch Follows A Star

Busch (UK) Ltd, the Telford, Shropshire, based vacuum pump and blower manufacturer, has supplied vacuum pump equipment to a leading printing company.

Four of the company’s Mink MM1142AV rotary claw vacuum pumps, complete with control panel, have been installed at Polestar Petty’s facility in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Polestar Petty print and bind high volume weekly magazines such as the Radio Times, Now and What’s On TV.

The pumps have been installed in a newly built extension providing vacuum to four Ferag binders and inserters and replaced existing old models of Mink which were some of the first used in the UK printing industry. The Ferag binders collate the cover and different sections of the magazine which are then stitched together and trimmed to produce the finished publication.

Mark Sumnal, UK sales manager for Busch, said: “The original Mink pumps had performed very well for Polestar over the years which meant they were pleased to select and install the new generation product.

“These new Minks offer a number of benefits for the user including reduced energy consumption, quieter operation which keeps noise levels to a minimum, as well as having minimal maintenance requirements which prevents costly long periods of production down-time.”

Mink is described by Busch as offering high efficiency, non-contacting operation with low maintenance. Regulation of frequency, volume flow and differential pressure is a feature of the design therefore providing flexibility, while minimising energy consumption.

The Mink rotary claw vacuum pump is available with suction capacities of 60 to 500 m/h. Providing vacuum levels down to 20mbar (a) and 2 bar (g) overpressure.
